Take Control of your Life Part 1 - Fueling Motivation with Meditation

Take Control of your Life Part 1 - Fueling Motivation with Meditation

Welcome to this 3 part article on Taking Control of your Life, you’ll thank yourself for taking an interest in this blog entry and I hope that you have the motivation to involve yourself with improving the way you handle your day to day activities!

In this section of Take Control of Your Life I will outline common area’s of motivation and focus and why we often overlook and don’t utilize this natural fuel for achievement! This article will ask you why you aren’t tapping into your own abilities for growth and change. We will ask ourselves what can we do to inspire ourselves and motivate ourselves more powerfully and more often.

I will be introducing something new that I have applied to my own life that I feel a lot of us are missing out on! I am asking the question, “What is my motivation, and how do I use it for inspired day to day experiences?”. Maybe you ask yourself “what am I doing with my life?” and struggle to really make anything of the answers you get? Maybe you’re not able to get enough direction or motivation and see valuable activities slipping through your fingers by what seems to be your own fault!? Where is the source of that ‘driving force’ that really gets the job done well? I hope to explain a method to really help.

In later sections I’m going to explain how I applied the motivation and focus I’ve found throughout experiences and thoughts you’ll be reading on this page. I will then go on to talk about how to leverage what we have gained by creating focus and motivation, applying it effectively and wasting as little as possible. Leveraging it to really maximize what we can achieve!

Fueling Motivation is Meditation

Whether you are researching, designing, thinking, dreaming or escaping there is a great tool we can use. For anything that is something better or further than what and where you are at the  moment you can utilize a powerful activity, that activity is meditation. Now I’m not talking about the “ohm” – cross your legs and find inner peace – “meditation”. The meditation I’m referring to is the conscious process of creating a mental map of whats ahead, preparing for it and taking action! But in this process there is a crucial step which I feel I have been overlooking, and it’s something that occurs between preparing and taking action. A step which when overlooked, eliminates powerful potential for achievement and success. While most importantly, taking away from the control that you have over your own life!

I’m sure you would like to know how to use this powerful process to it’s full extent! I’m even more sure that you’re excited about gaining more control over your own life! This ‘missing link’ and very crucial step is focus and motivation.

Think of a common activity which you do each day that follows our process, for example, getting up in the morning and ready for a working day. I might consciously say to myself “When I hear my alarm, I’m going to leap out of bed!”. This matches our process of achievement, preparation and action. Now this is all great, I’m read to get out of bed, but I’m still lying in bed at the time, if I only undertook this portion of completing a task I would be leaving the actual real event of me getting up in the morning to chance, and if you’re anything like me you’d probably just end up staying in bed anyway! Take control of the situation! Apply some focus and motivation to the simple role of getting up and out of bed, because that is whats missing:

The motivation doesn’t just come from anywhere, we can’t always expect something external to solve our morning blues! It requires some juice, it requires some real explosive thinking to get an event to take place. This juice comes from the simple pattern of meditation and that pattern is this:

  • We focus on our goal or outcome.
  • We prepare for the event.
  • We make the event a ‘must’ by outlining powerful reasons to convince ourselves of what we are doing.
  • We complete the task - reminding ourselves that it’s a ‘must’ and why we need it done!

Without these key processes this event would never occur, I’d be late for work, and you’ll probably notice that steps 2 and 3 require complete mental focus, where we take a moment to assign a value to what we need to do. This mental focus is created by us. What powerful reasoning drives your life? Does thinking “Without getting out of bed right now, I’m wasting chances to make positive change to other peoples lives!” or “When I get up I’m getting up for a great day and to show others that I am a successful human being!?” seem like it might get you up a little faster than your usual moan and groan? Does it get you fired up? Ready to go? Does it give you a boost that lets you take life by the steering wheel and take it where you want it?

For such a simple task such as getting out of bed this seems like child’s play, basic thinking and a silly point to make. So lets make it something impressive, how about, “Making the potential to earn $1 Million Dollars”? I hope that you’re suddenly thinking - Wow! - that was a big leap, but before it becomes too overwhelming take a deep breath and have a look at how our pattern applies to a fantastic goal of being financially successful and concentrate on the most important part! The part which is all about creating that explosive potential, the incredible focus and limitless motivation.

I like to exercise this at least once a day, the more time I put into it the better. I think of being financially successful, and I like to put up the figure $1,000,000,000 or 1 Billion Dollars, and I think “great! wouldn’t that be fantastic!?” Now with this goal in mind I immediately start to get that mental fuel ready for the event, I meditate. I combine some of the things I have talked about earlier in this blog. I free my mind and I make very sure that the goal is more than just sliced bread! It’s not just a dream, it’s a reality:

  • I am a powerful and positive leader.
  • I am a globally exposed icon of success and inspired living!
  • I see people with Billions and hundreds of Billions of dollars and it is perfectly realistic to believe that I will have that too!

These kind of statements get me pumped, can you see why!? Would they get you juiced and inspired? I know that they do for me! I even feel like getting up and telling other people how amazing they are, it’s a natural high that is focused on results! Where did it come from? It came from that mental effort to make something I really truly believe in become an important part of my day and my life.

A great and inspiring addition to this is when John Maxwell wrote “As you begin changing your thinking, start immediately to change your behaviour. Begin to act the part of the person you would like to become. Take action on your behaviour. Too many people want to feel, then take action. This never works.

Can you see the results? I’ve taken this to the world stage, I’ve created a global website and blog for you and I’ve inspired my own life even further to learn and understand this positive way of reaching my goals. I’m already a success, there is already a dramatic positive and inspired shift in my day and I am happier for it.

Now I would like to ask you, am I outlining a missing ingredient from your day? Is your life a bit too much of a ‘to do list’? I believe that we can all fuel our own motivation, and boost our focus! I hope that I have explained for you a great method of creating great motivation, and I know that you’ll be wanting to give it a try! So go for it, take what I’ve said to you in this article and give it a go, close your eyes and fly amongst your own motivation, get yourself fueled with potential!

Once you’re pumped and ready to want to see what to do with all this great potential read on to Take Control of your Life Part 2 – Keep it Real where I will discuss some ways that you can apply your focus and multiply it’s effects across all area’s you want to achieve in.
