This is an entry that I hope will catch your attention. Lately I have been looking through a directory of affiliate learning programs and a list of local tuition centers. I’ve spent thousands of dollars sitting through many courses, and witnessing the level of tuition provided by many training providers for specialist fields. The general trend I am seeing is that the majority of learning comes from these facilities maximizing your resources of which to learn but still relying on using your own momentum to get the learning done. These institutes are tapping into your own passion to turn a profit. Which leads to people not giving their own passion and purpose enough credit! If purpose is what leads you to one of these courses to sign up, then passion leads you right through it to the finish then you should embrace these key influences on your own self-development. I’ve learned that these institutions are leveraging the expert knowledge of individuals (tutors) to provide as a resource for your passion to feed. Experts which you don’t necessarily need to pay someone else to get on a first name basis with. So I ask you, do you want to become an expert at anything you want? Do you want to do it without the cost of an institution or a stack of learning fees at the end of the day? Answer: “Yes you do!”.
It’s simple and it helps you to trust in your own intelligence rather than somebody you barely even know!
So lets being. To do so; you’ll need some purpose and focus! Take time to make clear exactly what you are doing and why. If you are wanting to learn how to become a professional, you’ll be thinking about what skills you are gaining and how the knowledge and skill set will benefit your lifestyle and financial state. Use this motivation and purpose to develop your focus. Naturally you will begin by reading and learning the smaller details to help direct you to more valuable information. You’ll find that as your focus becomes clear you start to see other people standing in the distance. These are the people who are following the same path that you are about the begin! These people are more than likely to share the same passion as you, and the people who are much further down the trail are the experts who you hope to stand with! This happens because your focus creates a resonance with the field of learning and passion, and without knowing it, you are attracting these people to your attention because they match you interests.
Every single one of these people has an amount of valuable information to feed your hunger for knowledge. The best part is; they’ll love to share it with you! Because it’s their passion as well, they could well be doing anything short of live, sleep, eat and breath the knowledge and skills that you are looking for! I’m not telling you to join a club or mingle with people in a convention centre, but this is exactly what happens when people with the same interests get together, they share and develop their passion! So is there any reason to exclude yourself from this great way to meet new people and learn? Answer: “NO!”.
Once you have followed you passion and realized how many opportunities your new focus attracts, it’s time to start getting into gear!
Allow maximum space in your own life for these people and their knowledge, a large mistake that people who are choosing the smarter method of teaching themselves their own skill set, is that they limit their knowledge intake to something they feel they can manage. This usually means they pass over potentially valuable and often motivating skills or information to get them going down the road to expertise! Don’t close off new information just because you feel like you need to be an artisan at one new idea at a time!
Once you have found a fountain of knowledge, make sure to apply yourself to every new opportunity for learning. Even if it’s just for a taste, take each opportunity and work with it to see if it matches your flow. People who are learning through self-development usually end up taking another persons path for a while, but come out at the end of the trail feeling like they have gained little. This is because what they have done is worked with another persons rhythm and ride. You need to make your own. It’s time for you to put your personality and intelligence into the drivers seat, and get into a great rhythm for quality learning.
Now that you understand how to gain the knowledge and you tried every sample you can get; make a resource bank of everything that you feel is worthy as you learn. Make sure you document and save as much helpful information as possible, not only for future reference, but to hand onto other people who will come to you as an expert later on! You may see designers and creative minds doing this very thing, journals, sketch books, or the fabled canvas are all a media of knowledge, growth and learning. We all should be doing the same, making clear and referable notes on our knowledge and thoughts. This is probably the most powerful technique you can use during self-development. You are creating your own resource of valuable knowledge by doing this and the best part is; it’s all tailored for your learning style!
Not so complicated is it? It might even seem too simple!? But I want you to carefully understand that what I’m saying is overlooked by so many people. You can substantially change your own environment, effectively improve your own life and gather great people around you! All you need to do is pay consideration to the factors which are hindering your natural ability to do this.
Take what has been mentioned above and add it to a powerful learning tool I’m about to mention. You will see a huge difference in your learning.
If you are able to implement everything we have talked about: Setting you focus, allowing maximum intake of knowledge, trying each path of knowledge you find, and creating a resource bank.
